About this Blog

Welcome to “Raider of the Lost Art.”

Whether you are already passionate about art and cultural heritage or you have a new found interest in these topics I hope you will find this to be an important stop in the conversation around the critical issues facing the art, history, and conservation communities throughout the world. While I hope to share interesting stories and express my criticisms and opinions, I see this blog as a platform with which we can all share our thoughts, feelings, and ideas, and challenge each other in a safe and respectful space.

The idea for this blog came about back in 2011 with the intention of keeping abreast of art theft and cultural heritage issues throughout the world, but was truly a modest attempt which ended almost as quickly as it began. However, when a friend and really great blogger, Mark Durney, ended his work at Art Theft Central last January something in the space was missing. He provided an important voice and initiated an exchange that was invaluable to this community. If I can only be half as effective as he was in this work, it will have been a success. Please join me and share with me the issues, challenges, and ideas that mean something to you in the art and cultural heritage sector. I hope this exchange can bring growth and much needed attention to a field that is often ignored.

See you…
